Guernsey and Alderney Airport’s runways will reopen on Sundays from 10am – 4pm local time effective from 10 May 2020.
With COVID-19 restrictions recently changed allowing General Aviation to fly in local airspace, extending the Guernsey and Alderney airports’ operational hours to Sundays would offer aircraft operators more opportunity to perform maintenance flights.
This extended operational opening hours on Sundays also applies to Alderney Airport.
All flights are to be arranged with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice through their appointed fixed based operator or the Guernsey Aero Club. ‘Prior Permission is Required (PPR)’ procedures will need to be followed.
All flights will need to be operated within the current published operating hours of Guernsey Airport. Airport extensions are not available.
The passenger terminals remains closed on Sundays at this time. This is due to the lack of demand for commercial air travel from passengers.
Opening and operating hours of passenger terminals and runways are always under review and will be adapted and changed as and when new developments emerge in efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the Bailiwick.
There are no changes to current medevac operations, including the transportation of urgent medical and pathology supplies.
