Grow Limited is set to redevelop its entire occupational training site in St Sampson’s.
Set up in 1984, Grow provides a sheltered work environment for those islanders with learning disabilities.
In the year of its 35th anniversary, the company has unveiled a plan to provide training and skills in a wider variety of occupations than it previously has done.
Grow's manager, Eddie Higgins, told Island FM they hope to double the number of people it can support:
“We are looking after 26 individuals at present with the new site in place we can develop that and evolve to look after 50 people”.
The redevelopment will see an on-site café built, to offer training in hospitality, whilst retail experience will be gained by working in the enhanced retail areas.
The work is due to cost between £2.5 million and £3 million.
In addition, a fully-equipped workshop will enable the building of garden furniture and other wooden products.
Grow hopes to begin construction on its Petits Quartiers Vinery site by September 2020.
