Jersey's armed forces celebrated

Jersey's armed forces are being celebrated today (Saturday 27 June).

A full programme of activities is taking place at Weighbridge and Liberation Square in St Helier for Armed Forces Day - starting at 11:45am with the parade and march past, led by the Band of the Island of Jersey.

The parade will march through Commercial Street and feature serving personnel, veterans, cadet units, military vehicles and riders.

The Lieutenant Governor will take the salute before the parade reaches the Weighbridge, where the Bailiff will officially open the Military Village and watch a live performance of the national anthem.

There will also be:

  • Military music
  • Performances by local artists
  • Cadet drill and command task competitions
  • A mine-clearing demonstration by Jersey Field Squadron RE (V)

The formal programme concludes with a flag-lowering ceremony accompanied by a piper, respecting those who serve and have served.

It will end with an informal veterans' reception.
