Public survey opens into future of Grève de Lecq site

The future use of the former Seaside Café at Grève de Lecq could be decided by a new public survey.

The government bought the beach-front for £3.6 million earlier this year and gave it to the National Trust for Jersey to look after.

The preservation charity has now created a community survey asking what people would like to see there.

In January, it produced images of what the area could look like, with options including building a new cafe or returning the land to nature.

The Trust says:

"(The survey) aims to clarify what people want to see at the site by asking high-level questions with clear and quantifiable outcomes. This feedback will help inform key elements of the Trust’s plans and set the tone for later stages of the consultation."

CEO Alan Le Maistre says some funding has been secured, but the potential of the Trust's plans will be determined by what additional support it receives.

“Together we have the chance to make this tired and neglected site into a beautiful, environmentally conscious space, with wonderful public amenities that will enhance Grève de Lecq now and into the future.”

The community survey can be found here.

The car park was reopened in time for the Easter holidays.
