A 37-year-old man who repeatedly kicked a woman in the stomach has been found guilty of grave and criminal assault following a four-day trial in Jersey's Royal Court.
Roger Baksa, who is from Poole, was arrested in June last year after the victim, who was known to him, reported being attacked.
She needed to go to hospital for treatment.
He was released on bail with the condition not to contact the victim.
He was arrested again in September for breaching bail and then charged with perverting the course of justice for trying to force his victim to retract her statement.
Detective Inspector Paul Ryan says Roger Baksa has shown himself to be a manipulative bully who behaved despicably.
"I hope today’s verdict encourages anyone else who has experienced similar abuse to come forward and speak to officers.
SoJP is committed to bringing these offenders to justice."
He'll be sentenced at a later date.
Police have praised the victim for showing immense courage throughout the investigation.
