Lateral Flow Tests Available To All

Anyone over the age of 12 can now register to get free lateral flow kits delivered to their home.

Jersey's government is recommending they be taken twice a week - and especially before visiting at-risk family or friends.

Until now, only certain groups of people have been eligible for lateral flows - such as staff and students in secondary schools and direct contacts of confirmed Covid cases.

They return results in around 15 minutes.

The government wants the results to be posted online and for anyone who tests positive to get a follow-up PCR swab organised.

The number of active Covid cases is gradually increasing - with 370 people currently known to have the virus on-island.

Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, says it's important everyone takes up the offer of free lateral flow tests:

"These are quick and easy to use and will provide you with peace of mind, as well as helping to protect those around you and the wider community.

"We know that the Pandemic Emergency phase in Jersey is not yet concluded. Vaccination has reduced risk but a range of threats, including new variants, vaccine waning, and the infectiousness of the Delta variant, all mean that the next few months are highly unpredictable."
