Details given on Jersey's MenB vaccines for university students

Public Health is offering Meningitis B vaccination clinics this summer for students preparing to start university or move into halls of residence for the first time this autumn.

Clinics will take place at the Town Church across July and August, with a range of daytime and evening sessions available.

It is a walk-in programme, with no booking required.

The vaccine is being offered to Year 13 students (or equivalent age, born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008) and young people under 25 entering university or residential further education for the first time.

The MenB vaccine requires two doses for full protection, given at least 28 days apart, so students are advised to attend as early as possible.

Students should aim to receive their first dose in July and second dose in August, to allow time to complete the course before heading off to university.

If students are unable to complete both doses in Jersey, they will be able to receive one or both doses once they arrive at university in the UK.

However, starting vaccination before travel is strongly recommended to ensure early protection.

This is targeted for the 2026 cohort; all eligible students are encouraged to take up the vaccine.
