1980s Tax Computer System Replaced

Revenue Jersey, the island's taxes office, vacated Cyril Le Marquand House at the end of last year as part of the OneGov programme.

The island's tax office makes the switch to its new computer system this week.

It means we'll be able to file our tax returns online from next year.

The old computer system dates back to the 1980s and pre-dates even the earliest version of Microsoft Windows.

The government will switch that one off and move its data to the new one between the 1st and 3rd May.

Revenue Jersey says it's the right time to make the switch, as the May bank holiday is usually a quiet time for tax enquiries.

We'll each be given a new 10-digit Tax ID number, which brings the island in-line with international practice.

From the 7th May, spouses and civil partners will receive a copy of their own ITIS rate, rather than it being addressed to their husband or partner.
