Police are urgently appealing for information after a girl in her late teens reported being raped in the early hours of this morning.
The attack is said to have happened by the bus shelter on La Rue a Don next to Longbeach Car Park in Grouville at around midnight.
The force says she was waiting at the bus stop by herself when a man who she didn't know walked up to her and offered a lift - which she declined.
He then came back a few minutes later and asked again - and again she said no. Police say she was then raped.
The man is described as being around 40 to 50 years old, around 5'9", stocky with thick brown hair and a short brown and grey beard.
He's said to have had an accent, possibly Mediterranean or Portuguese, and was wearing a large padded coat that was too big for him and a black hat.
Police say they're 'committed to finding this man' and want anyone in the area last night who saw 'anything suspicious, no matter how insignificant they think it may be', to contact them as soon as possible.
The victim, who's in her late teens, is currently receiving support from the Sexual Assault Referral Centre.
Anyone with information is asked to call the States of Jersey Police's Serious Crime Unit directly on 01534 612200 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
