Health and Social Care says 14 elective surgeries have been postponed this week, with further disruption expected in the coming days.
HSC says this is a seasonal issue with demand outstripping available capacity at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.
Cancer and emergency surgeries will be prioritised, while staff wok to minimise disruption.
The committee says it 'recognises it is always disappointing when elective surgery must be postponed' and apologises for the impact on individuals and their families.
The MSG will be in contact with patients to rearrange postponed elective cases.
The hospital continues to request anyone with symptoms of a respiratory illness to avoid the PEH campus, and asks visitors to wash their hands between wards.
