44 writers will be speaking at a range of events across the 13 days of the Guernsey Literary Festival in May.

More well-known names have been added to the programme for 2023.

Organisers announced last month that journalists Dan Walker and Jon Snow as well as lexicographer and Countdown star Susie Dent will all be appearing at St James' Church - Jon Snow on 11 May, Susie Dent and Dan Walker on 13 May.

Now, the full line-up of guest speakers and events for this year has been released.  It includes even more nationally acclaimed writers and also local authors.

Veteran BBC journalist David Dimbleby will be talking about his book 'Keep Talking: A Broadcasting Life', while Middle East correspondent Jeremy Bowen will also be making an appearance.

Local writers are also centre stage throughout the fete, which is being held between 2 and 14 May

Guernsey soldier, Sir Donald Banks' publisher, Steve Foote and daughter Dawn Smith will talk about his Memoir 'Across the Channel'.

Audiences of Paul Sherman will also get to have a walk around Herm while he speaks about his novel 'One flew over a Puffins Nest' which is part of his selection of short stories set in Herm.

The events are held at several venues across the island, including St James' and St Peter's churches, St Pierre Park, Les Cotls and the Guille Alles Library.

The education programme will also see writers and illustrators make their way into the island's schools to speak with pupils, as well as an outreach programme with events in the prison and care homes.

Festival Director Claire Allen is 'delighted' with the writers and speakers they have been able to attract.

"Local audiences will be able to listen to and question well-known names on a wide spectrum of subjects based on the speakers’ books.

Our programme covers news, health, poetry, the environment, business and economics, history, sport, music and social issues.

I’m especially happy with our education programme, which takes writers into schools, and the community programme, which has expanded this year."

You can find the whole programme of events here.

Tickets go on sale to members from 27 February, with a general sale from 10am on 4 March.
