Guernsey Post to end air deliveries

Little uptake means the Special Delivery by air trial will end in early October.

When Guernsey Post switched to incoming and outgoing mail deliveries by sea, it promoted a Special Delivery option where islanders could chose to send their post by air.

But since July they say uptake has been about 5% which does not justify keeping the service.

It means anyone who needs to get post off island quickly will have to use a courier service from early October, as the trial ends then.

Guernsey Post CEO Steve Sheridan says there has not been the demand for the air service:

" Given the limited uptake during the trial, customer demand has not been sufficient to justify continuing the air-based service beyond the trial period."
