Stand-Up Drinking Pushed Back To June

Drinking whilst standing up in pubs and bars has been pushed back to 14 June, and restaurants and bars can return to normal opening hours earlier than planned.

Stand-up drinking was scheduled to return on 10 May.

It means that will now be allowed when nightclubs fully reopen and large events like festivals can resume.

"Islanders will be aware that last month we accelerated other parts of the reconnection roadmap, including increasing gathering limits earlier than planned. As a result, following advice from STAC, it has been decided that we should now delay stand-up drinking until Stage 7. This decision will, however, remain under review." - Deputy Richard Renouf, Health Minister.

Normal opening hours can resume in restaurants and bars on Friday 30 April.

From 10 May, up to 50 people will be allowed to go to a wedding reception in a private garden. At the moment, only 20 are allowed.

Children under the age of four are not included in the 50-person limit.

There are no limits to the number of people who can go to weddings in gardens or outdoor spaces that are available for hire.

"I'm pleased that we have been able to bring the policy surrounding wedding receptions into line with marriage ceremonies. Islanders will be able to enjoy weddings in their own gardens with a greater number of family and friends."
