A sinkhole has appeared and is causing large cracks in the walls of a house on Rouge Bouillon, closing the road.
A burst water pipe is the culprit, causing the ground to fall away underneath the road, and a property on the corner of Clarendon Road to become unstable.
Jersey Water engineers have now repaired the pipe, although the road will remain closed until further notice.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and to go down Midvale Road or use Palmyra Road.
Utilities services have been alerted to the issue and experts are deciding whether the property is safe and when to reopen the road.
Residents are allowed to return to their homes.

Schools
Schools in the area will be open tomorrow (19 December)
Parents are asked to walk wherever possible and to keep an eye out for updates directly from schools:
- Janvrin school - all parents are advised to park at Waitrose and walk via Drury Lane and College Gardens to drop off their children.
- d’Auvergne - parents are also asked to walk, if possible, or to drive via Lower King’s Cliff (opposite The Inn).
