Run4Kezia Raises £15k

This year's Run4Kezia has raised £15,000 to support young people's mental health.

More than 800 people took part in last month's sponsored two, five and ten kilometre runs in memory of Kezia Mason, who took her own life at the age of 14.

Kezia's Fund is putting money into projects that promote wellbeing in under 25s.

It has already received £150,000 in donations since it was set up, and has made 11 awards to projects in the first round of funding.

Run4Kezia was established in 2022 by Kezia's friends Saskia Ruddy, Tilly Welsh and Lily Barke:

Race Director Alex Ruddy says the support for the event has been overwhelming:

"The Run4Kezia community is truly remarkable. Together, over 800 runners have not only helped us to raise vital funds, but also awareness of the importance of children's mental health. This is a testament to the power of our Island community’s determination and compassion."

The next deadline for charitable projects to apply for a share of Kezia's Fund is 21 January 2024.

Anna Terry is CEO of Jersey Community Foundation, which administers the fund:

"This incredible show of solidarity reinforces our belief in the Jersey community's ability to make a positive change. The funds raised will be channelled into Kezia's Fund, enabling us to continue supporting initiatives that champion the mental wellbeing of our youth. We're deeply grateful to all involved."
