Revised plans for Millbrook House to become a 'boutique art hotel'

The new concept is a unique five-star boutique Art and Culture hotel.

A revised planning submission for the former Millbrook House hotel wants to create five-star accommodation with waterside cabins and a converted stable wing.

The resubmitted plans by CCA Galleries take the cost of the project to £29 million.

In 2021, a £14 million scheme was proposed to refurbish, upgrade and extend the disused hotel.

The owner says post-COVID delays and increases in local construction costs meant the previously approved scheme became financially unviable.

CCa Galleries now wants to completely remove the 1970s block to make room for a modern extension and more bedrooms.

The new extension will provide one- and two-bedroom guest units with catering facilities, and a range of five-star individual suites.

Hotel guests will also have the option of five waterside cabins, a converted stable wing, or a suite within the refurbished original Villa or its Gatehouse.

The plans also include a woodland chapel within the grounds, a spa and wellness centre, a gym, and a Glasshouse cafe.
