Pensioners and school pupils have come together to create Christmas decorations for the tree in St Clement Parish Hall.
ArtHouse Jersey organised the workshop, with local artist Lauren Radley helping put on an activity for young and old.
Sophie Ridgway who is behind 'Make a Friend, Make a Mess' says it was inspired by the Channel 4 series 'Old People's Home For 4 Year Olds'.
The programme saw one of the UK's biggest retirement villages open a nursery to highlight the benefits of intergenerational projects.
"Pensioners who engage in such an activity have been shown to have fewer falls and perform better in memory tests than their peers. And equally, children engaging in projects like this has been shown to benefit communication skills and also give them a more positive attitude about ageing. A lot of children on this island don't have elderly relatives here so it is a good opportunity for them to engage with a different generation and get different points of view."
ArtHouse Jersey says the event - supported by Bedell Cristin - is a pilot for what will hopefully become an ongoing project aimed at fostering a greater sense of community and connection in the island's parishes.
