Family Rescued From Les Ecrehous

A family of four have been rescued from Les Ecrehous after a CO2 alarm sounded.

The RNLI was called to evacuate them from the reef overnight when a CO2 detector in the hut they were sleeping in alerted them to unsafe levels of the potentially fatal gas.

The St Catherine inshore lifeboat launched just after 1 am and brought them to Jersey.

The reef is seven miles northeast of the island.

The RNLI says it was not a typical rescue but serves to highlight to boatowners and homeowners the importance of smoke and gas alarms.
