Dreaming Trees returns after a year's break

Dreaming Trees is making a return, with Howard Davis Park being lit up once again for the outdoor lights show.

Islanders of all ages are invited to the free event, which is returning on Valentine's Day (14 February) for the first time since 2024.

Each year, the team behind the Dreaming Trees tries to make the lights show 'bigger and better'.

Organiser Bruce Labey told Channel 103 about the work that goes into creating the special night.

"It takes almost a month to get all the cabling and the lights into the park, it's a huge endeavour, but frankly, when you see the kids and the way they respond its really, really worth it; we hope everyone enjoys it."

Visitors can also now pay to ride a miniature train around the light show at Howard Davis Park, for a special added extra.

Bruce says if he's not too old, he wants to have a go on it.

"This is something that our genius event organiser, Chris, has come up with.

"He's found a train set that people can ride on through the park; it's going to be absolutely magical, combined with the trees as well, I'm really looking forward to seeing it."

Due to the popularity of the event, people will need to book tickets for any evenings on the weekends to avoid overcrowding.

Bruce says they want to ensure people can enjoy it safely.

"The tickets are free, it's purely a way of making sure we don't get overcrowded and that everyone stays safe."

The ticketed days are:

  • Saturday, 14 February (Valentine's Day),
  • Sunday, 15 February,
  • Saturday, 21 February.

A special event is being held for neurodiverse islanders on Sunday, 22 February, which will be more sensory-friendly.
