He is remembered as an 'inspiration and a mentor' who was 'passionate about improving the game on the island'.

The Guillaume Memorial Court or 'G Court' will honour that legacy by creating a vibrant, high-quality public court where young people and the wider community can play, connect and be active.

The design on the court surface, of bright red, blue and yellow, is a nod to the flag of Réunion, Guillaume's home island.

Following Guillaume’s passing, the Jersey Basketball Association set up a fund, hoping to create something lasting in his name.

It exceeded its £25,000 target through the generous donations of islanders.

Jersey's government has match-funded the project, making the redevelopment possible.

Local architectural firm ANY has provided the design for the court.

Paul Milbank, President of the Jersey Basketball Association, said:

“The G Court is a lasting tribute to Guillaume and everything he gave to basketball and to Jersey.

"This project shows what can happen when community spirit and government support come together around a shared purpose.

"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, supported, and worked with us to reach this point.”

The court is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
