A nurse from Jersey who specialises in supporting children with Cancer has been shortlisted for a national award.
Claire Doran, who's spent the last three years working in paediatric oncology at the Jersey General Hospital, has been recognised by Nursing Times magazine.
Before specialising, she worked as a staff nurse on Robin Ward, the children's unit.
Claire says the nomination came as a complete shock, but she's delighted to be recognised:
"My job is emotionally challenging at times, but I feel really privileged that families let me in during such a difficult time. Obviously, professional boundaries are there but it is a very personal role. I get to know families very well and they get to know me very well. I have some clinical duties, however, the biggest proportion of my time is given to coordinating treatment and providing emotional support."
The winners will be revealed at a reception at London's Grosvenor House Hotel in October.
