Waitrose has agreed to stock Guernsey Dairy butter in more than 240 of its stores across the UK.
Guernsey Dairy says since cheese production ceased in December it has enough milk to increase its butter production by around 125,000 packs.
This has allowed the Dairy to pursue a new agreement with Waitrose to put the golden packets on the shelves of more than 240 supermarkets.
Dairy’s Operations Director, Andrew Tabel, says this won't affect local supplies and will positively promote the island:
“Not only will this boost total butter sales by around 15%, but it will also increase the visibility and popularity of Guernsey Dairy products nationwide whilst promoting the Island overall."
