WATCH: Major milestone reached in Guernsey golf club redevelopment

Guernsey golfers will be able to work on their swing at La Grande Mare from next month.

La Grande Mare’s new Golf Performance Centre is opening to the public on 1 November.

It features 10 range bays with 300 yards of green, two golf simulators, instruction bays, and a café.

The completion of the centre marks the first major milestone in La Grande Mare's multi-million-pound transformation project.

Businessman Steve Lansdown announced plans to knock down the old hotel on Guernsey's west coast and remodel the site in 2020.

The 18-hole golf course is expected to open in autumn 2026, and the country club is on course to welcome members in winter 2027.

Former British PGA head of training, Sue Shapcott, is Gold Performance Director at the centre.

She says the new training facilities are world-class.

"This is definitely right up there, as you know, the best facilities I’ve seen anywhere."

"It is just very detail-oriented, and a great environment.

"We used Trackman technology, which is radar that measures ball and club data.

"We can combine that with V1 technology, which is swing analysis.

"As an instructor, I can pick up on and identify what I want to change.

"I just can’t wait to get golfers in here and start working on their games."
