Islander To Be Pulled From Service

Condor's new conventional ferry, the Islander, is being pulled from service for repairs, just days after it made its first passenger sailing.

Condor says that technical problems with one of the vessel's forward bow thrusters means the Islander needs 'precautionary' repairs.

It is expected to be out of action for a week, returning to service on 2 November.

The ship made its maiden passenger voyage from the UK to Guernsey on Monday.

It was forced to abandon its sailing between the two Bailiwicks after the 'late discovery of a technical issue'.

That followed delays to the Islander joining the fleet, firstly with a spares issue, and then rough seas cancelling sailings in the aftermath of Storm Babet.

Condor is warning passengers that there is a significant risk of disruption to all services this weekend (28,29 October) with force six to seven winds forecast.
