£10,000 was donated to five Guernsey charities and organisers hope for a similar amount this weekend.
Organiser Sue Brooks says in its 23rd year, the Festival is going strong, as its appeal is simple:
"It’s a family event for all ages, so you get whole families, ranging from babies in push chairs to grandparents, and they can have a lovely day out.
"It’s not just looking at the scarecrows, there’s food and entertainment, there’s things for the children to do like pets corner, and there’s tractors on the Sunday and a fire engine on the Saturday."
More than 45 scarecrows are lined up in the front gardens, hedges and fields of this rural parish.
Sue says the event is open to all, and those exhibits from outside Torteval are easily accommodated along its winding lanes:
"Spaces are made available either in the fields, field entrances or at other peoples' houses, so if people aren’t living on the route we allocate them a space and tell them where it is, and hope that they find the right one on the day."
The Festival raises money for charity but its prices are modest, at £2 for adult entry and 50p for children. Sue says cars can park for a donation:
"Last year the car park people raised about £4,000 over the two days and then were able to give five charities £2,000 each."
The Festival runs from 10am until 5pm on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July. The route takes about 90 minutes to walk.
