Guernsey's Treasury lead arrested and bailed by police

Deputy Gavin St Pier and his wife were questioned and released by Guernsey Police yesterday (1 May).

Police confirm the arrest was part of an ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct in public office under the 1948 Reform Law, that began with deputy St Pier using parliamentary privilige to name a local GP in the States, some years ago.

This has led to allegations of harassment and the story being picked up by a national newspaper.

Deputy St Pier and his wife were released on bail following questioning.

Police confirm the new arrests directly relate to the same investigation that led to the two being arrested in December 2025:

“On Friday 1 May, Guernsey Police arrested a 59-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman on suspicion of misconduct in public office and an offence under the 1948 Reform Law.

"These two individuals were first arrested on suspicion of harassment in December 2025.

"These new arrests directly relate to the same investigation.

"Enquiries into all matters are ongoing and Guernsey Police will not be commenting any further at this stage."
