Guernsey's Hospice cycling fundraiser underway

30 Rides in 30 Days begins with a calorie rich breakfast as the cyclists prepare for the month long challenge.

Cyclists in their bright lilac, green and blue jerseys gather at Oatlands Village this morning (2 May) for a big breakfast before they set off on their rides.

All have pledged to spend at least one hour of the next 30 days in the saddle.

Many ride alone, others in small groups, and each has got at least £900 in sponsorship.

Some go much further and one year a cyclist devoted one day to just climbing hills.

The event began in 2008 and since then a total of 642 riders have cycled some 587 thousand miles and raised a massive a massive £1.2M for the Hospice.

Les Bourgs does not receive funding from the States and so is dependent on charity shop sales, donations and fundraisers like 30 Rides.
