One of the highest tides of the year washed over the St Peter Port Quay but businesses were prepared.
The 10.3 metre tide last night ( 19 September) was one of the highest of the year.
But the high pressure associated with fine weather has the effect of keeping wave heights below the predicted maximum.
Most businesses along the St Peter Port Quay have boards they can fix to their doorways to stop the sea water from getting in.
Those were in evidence last night but this morning few had need to put them up as the 10 metre tide failed to overtop the Quay.
Civil Protection Volunteers were waiting on the Crown Pier but were not needed.
Tonight's high tide will be 10.2 metres but after that they gradually decrease over the weekend.
