A Guernsey teenager is taking on a month-long, open water, marathon swim!
Alice Miller, 13, will swim 26 miles from today (12 June) until 12 July.
Most of the swims will be completed in Havelet Bay.
The aim is to raise £1,000, with all proceeds going directly to local charity Paws for Support.
It's her first attempt at completing a marathon - she completed seven swims in seven days across Havelet Bay in 2024 to raise funds for the GSPCA, before completing 100 consecutive days of swimming in support of Guernsey Conservation Volunteers.
Alice said:
"I think mental health is very important and Paws for Support provide help in a way that’s very different for people of all ages.
"It’s a positive way to feel better about things. I’ve supported charities with an animal or environmental angle and this year I am focusing on mental health."
Sara Sarre, Paws for Support Chairperson, said:
"We are incredibly proud to have Alice supporting Paws for Support through this remarkable challenge.
"At just 13, her determination is truly inspiring. Swimming a marathon distance in open water is no small feat, and to do so in aid of our charity makes it even more special.
"Every donation will help us continue providing vital support to those who benefit from our Therapy dogs and Assistance dogs.
"We wish Alice the very best over the coming month and thank her for choosing us to help make a difference to our community."
