Deputy Neil Inder is Guernsey's new Planning Authority president

The former head of Economic Development underlines his commitment to housing in his new role.

The position of head of the DPA became vacant following Yvonne Burford’s move to Policy and Resources, to cover the gap left by deputy Jonathan le Tocq.

Deputy Inder faced competition from the new deputy, Jayne Ozanne.

The result was a seven vote victory for deputy Inder, who polled 22 votes, deputy Ozanne polled 15 and there was one blank paper.

During his speech, he emphasised the need for Planning to be fully involved in the home-building process, still very much a key priority:

"Planning and development have never been more central to Guernsey's future..and how we build for the future without losing the character of the island that we love."

"The DPA needs to help housing, we need to get stuff out of the ground as quickly as possible, and the DP(A) should be there to assist, not hinder."
