Shamed ex-world snooker champion Graeme Dott removed from hall of fame after child sex abuse conviction

Graeme Dott has been removed from World Snooker Tour's hall of fame after being found guilty of historical child sex abuse.

The shamed ex-world snooker champion was on Monday convicted of lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards two primary school-aged children.

The allegations spanned between 1993 and 1996 involving a girl, and 2006 to 2010 involving a boy.

Dott, 49, denied any wrongdoing during his trial, branding the allegations "disgusting".

In a statement on Tuesday, World Snooker Tour (WST) said: "Following his conviction yesterday at the High Court in Glasgow, WST has taken the decision to remove Graeme Dott from the World Snooker Tour hall of fame with immediate effect."

Dott turned professional in 1994 and went on to win the World Snooker Championship in 2006, defeating Peter Ebdon in the final at the Crucible in Sheffield.

He also reached the final in both 2004, when he was beaten by Ronnie O'Sullivan, and 2010, losing out to Australian Neil Robertson.

Dott was suspended from competition by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) when the court charges were announced in April 2025.

In an update following the court verdict, WPBSA said his membership had now been "permanently revoked" with immediate effect.

This followed an emergency board meeting where it was unanimously agreed to remove him from the sport.

WPBSA said it had written to WST to request his removal from the hall of fame.

During Dott's trial, jurors heard how he repeatedly molested his two victims.

This included inducing the girl to briefly engage in a sex act, which came to an end when she "started to cry", and sexually abusing the boy while the youngster was in a shower.

The male victim described Dott's demeanour as "aggressive", telling jurors: "Looking back, he knew what he wanted me to do."

The man added: "He expected nothing but compliance."

Dott was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on 29 September.
