Wildflower meadow blooms at La Mare Estate

Over 1.5 acres of wildflowers have sprung up at La Mare Wine Estate, where islanders can stroll for free.

La Mare Wine Estate’s wildflower meadow is in full bloom.

Sown with native wildflowers and grasses, both islanders and wildlife can enjoy the 1.78 acres of colour.

It's part of the estate's drive for 'organic' status, and a more island-wide push towards looking after our ecosystems.

In May, a campaign asked islanders to put the lawnmowers away to help plants and animals thrive.

Tim Crowley, Managing Director at La Mare Wine Estate says the project isn't just a pretty face:

“The meadow is not only an important part of the landscape—it’s a visible expression of our long-term commitment to soil health, biodiversity, and sustainable farming.”

Wildflowers are essential for the health of pollinator populations which are essential for the food chain.

La Mare Wine Estate is open daily with free entry for islanders to enjoy the meadow.
