Weekender Let's Rock line-up revealed

Channel 103 reveals the acts that will be taking Jersey back to the eighties at next month's Weekender.

UK retro festival brand Let's Rock is coming to People's Park on Saturday 12 September.

Headlining will be BROS frontman and teen idol Matt Goss, whose smash hits include 'When will I be famous? and 'I Owe You Nothing'.

Since his chart-topping success, selling more than 16 million records worldwide, he has reinvented himself as a modern-day crooner, spending more than a decade headlining a critically acclaimed residency in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace and The Mirage. 

Organisers say he will be brining his 'pure showmanship and timeless hits to the People’s Park main stage'.

Joining Matt Goss will be 80s pop royalty Tony Hadley, the legendary voice of Spandau Ballet.

Recognised as one of the defining vocalists of the New Romantic era, he will deliver some of the decade’s most enduring anthems—including the global multi-platinum smash 'True', 'Gold', and 'Through the Barricades'.

Tony has toured the world as a solo artist since the band's split in 1990, and organisers say the crowds should expect 'an unforgettable main-stage singalong'.

It will be a return to the island for Tony, who played Fort Regent with Spandau Ballet in 1989, and appeared for a special  "Battle of the Eighties Giants" event alongside Martin Fry of ABC in 2005.

Nik Kershaw dominated the charts in the 80s, with hits including 'Wouldn't It Be Good', 'The Riddle', and 'I Won't Let the Sun Go Down on Me'.

He last performed in Jersey at Electric Park in 2021, where he dedicated a rendition of his hit 'The One and Only', written for Chesney Hawkes, to the late local broadcaster Gary Burgess.

And Scottish pop duo Hue and Cry, who also played Fort Regent in the 80s, will be performing classic anthems 'Labour of Love' and 'Looking for Linda'.

Describing it as an 'unforgettable retro party experience' Warren Le Sueur, Festival Organiser, said:

"We are absolutely thrilled to have teamed up with Let’s Rock to bring an unforgettable party featuring some of the biggest icons of the 80s to People's Park.

"From Matt Goss and Tony Hadley to Nik Kershaw and Hue and Cry, Saturday is going to be an incredible, hit-packed celebration from start to finish.

"Since we have announced, the appetite for both days has been massive, and we can’t wait to deliver two totally unique show experiences over one weekend."

It is the second of the two-day Weekender Presents series of concerts, following Alex James Britpop Classical on Friday 11 September.
