Jersey Fire & Rescue has been taking tips from the RNLI to learn how to save people from our waters.
The Shoreline Rescue Course saw 10 firefighters dive into crashing waves to develop their skills at sea.
After two days of learning in and out of the classrooms, led by the RNLI's lifeguards, the fire crew took to St Ouen's Bay to practice what they were taught.
The main objective was to teach the fire service the skills and knowledge needed to perform rescues on people in need in challenging surf conditions.

The two emergency services believe this collaboration marks the start of a strong partnership that will benefit them both and the island's community.
Watch Commander Richard Ryan says this course has been invaluable for our team.
"The skills and techniques we've learned will enhance our ability to perform shoreline rescues effectively and safely.
"We have developed a profound respect for the RNLI Jersey Lifeguards and the risks they face daily.
"We're looking forward to building a strong working relationship and conducting more joint training exercises in the future."
