Three people were rescued from the sea at Green Island on Tuesday evening (12 August).

Three people were rescued from the sea at Green Island.

The Fire and Rescue Service inshore boat was called at around 7.30pm to reports of the swimmers struggling in the water around 100 metres from shore.

The trio were helped onto rocks by a quick-thinking paddleboarder and kayaker.

They were picked up by the firefighters and checked over by a waiting ambulance.

Jersey Coastguard and the RNLI St Helier lifeboat, which was on a training exercise at the time, also attended.

JFRS said:l "A huge thank you to the paddle boarder, kayaker, our crews, and all partner emergency services involved in ensuring a safe outcome."

It is reminding people that the sea around Jersey is unpredictable, with fast-changing tides and currents:

• Check the tide times and weather forecast.

• Keep communication devices in a waterproof case.

• Never underestimate the strength of the tide – if in doubt, don’t go out.
