There will be changes to the roads around St Saviour's school to make them safer for children.
New pedestrian crossings will be put in, including opposite the main entrance to the parish primary
A new three-metre wide shared path will be created across a field between Le Clos Paumelle and La Rue de la Retraite, running parallel with Bagatelle Road.
'Before' and 'After' illustrations (see below) show the pavement on southbound side will then be removed to give a wider road space alongside the school grounds on the northbound side.
There will be a one-metre 'roadside buffer', designed to 'improve safety during school drop-off and pick-up times'.
An unloading bay will be designated for HGV unloading to make it easier for the school to receive deliveries of school meals.
Officials say the scheme has been designed to limit changes to the landscape and mature trees will be preserved or replaced by semi-mature planting.
The work is part of the Infrastructure department's 'Safer Routes to School' programme. It has been welcomed by headteacher Kirstie Williams:
"We are fully supportive of the aim to make walking and cycling to school more attractive and safer for our pupils and our families."
Details of the plans will be on show at St Saviour's Parish Hall from next Tuesday (2 July).
A planning application will be made later this year, and the changes made during summer 2026.
