Special Christmas lights switch-ons for young children and sensory needs

The Christmas lights will be switched on in St Helier three times this year.

There will be an early evening event for younger children on Thursday 13 November.

The 'Tiny-Tots-Switch-On' will take place in Parade Gardens 4-6pm, and include a family sing-along show and a mini fireworks display.

A sensory-friendly switch-on the following day (Friday 14 November, 3.45 - 4.45pm) is aimed at families needing a quieter and less-crowded experience.

There will be no flashing lights or loud noises, and only families that would benefit from the quieter setting are asked to attend, so that a 'calm atmosphere' can be achieved.

The main event will follow later that evening (5-9pm), also in Parade Gardens.

There will be a Christmas Village with food, drink and live entertainment.

Santa's Parade will leave West's Centre at 7pm, heading through the town precinct to Charing Cross, past the Town Hall to the Parade.

The lights will be switched on at 8pm, followed by a fireworks display.

The Battle of Flowers Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday 15 November at 6pm.

Connor Burgher, St Helier's Town Centre Manager, says the parish has listened to feedback and hopes to cater for everyone:

"It is so important that everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy Christmas in St Helier, and we are excited to bring you what is shaping up to be the best Christmas St Helier has ever seen! ”
