Rescued holidaymaker (86) leaves fire brigade beaming

Maureen posing with Jersey Fire & Rescue

Maureen, who is on holiday in Jersey, left a lasting impression on a team of firefighters who came to her rescue in St Aubin.

The retired paramedic was visiting St Aubin when she slipped boarding Le Petite Tram in St Aubin, becoming trapped between the seats and the cart.

Jersey's fire service came to rescue her, using lifting and carrying sheets to safely free Maureen, who did not let the situation dampen her spirits.

The service says the 86-year-old charmed their crew with her humour, with a cheeky bit of light-hearted flirting, which delighted everyone involved.

After the team managed to rescue her, they took a photo together, leaving the firefighters and bystanders 'with smiles just as big as hers'.

Watch Commander Ryan said it was a privilege to help Maureen today.

"Her warmth, humour, and life experience made the encounter memorable for all of us.

"She’s a real inspiration at 86, and we wish her the very best for the rest of her holiday."
