A pod of dolphins has been saved from La Rocque.
They had become stranded in a pool on the outgoing spring tide on Monday afternoon (11 March).
Rescuers made a dam to keep them in deep enough water until the tide turned and they could swim away.
The efforts involved Jersey Fire and Rescue, Jersey Coastguard, volunteers from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue, members of the Jersey Fisheries department, the RNLI, Jersey Seafaris and the Parish of Grouville.
The group of thirteen dolphins were unharmed and returned to open water. They were last seen heading west.
"It's moments like these that remind us of the precious marine life around our island and the power of community effort.

BDMLR says it is possible the same thing could happen again in the next day or so. It has given this advice:
"If you do find the pod of dolphins stranded again please call the coastguard immediately and the same practise can be put in place again. Keep dogs on leads and stay away.
Never pull the dolphins back in the water, wait for us to attend and we will make them as comfortable as possible.
