Part-time pedestrian crossing permanent during school terms

The part-time pedestrian crossing near Victoria College Preparatory School is now permanent, but only during school term time.

The crossing on Clarence Road was trialled for a year from June 2025, as part of the government's Safer Routes to School project.

It's at the junction with Pleasant Street, Grosvenor Street and College Hill.

It will operate between 7:45am and 8:45am and between 2:45pm and 3:45pm.

There will be removable traffic bollards, and through-traffic won't be allowed between College Hill and Grosvenor Street, and Pleasant Street and Clarence Road.

The government said it will monitor the number of people walking outside Victoria College Prepatory School, as well as traffic levels outside the school and the wider road network.
