Two beach-side Jersey restaurants have closed suddenly and with immediate effect.
Nude Food and Nude Dunes have ceased trading after four years and five months, respectively.
The owners of the healthy eating restaurants say they have been hit by the rising cost of living and inflation, the increase in supplier costs, and high recruitment and accommodation costs as well as a 'poor Jersey summer' which has had 'disastrous consequences for the business'.
They say they have worked 'tirelessly' to arrange further investment, but ultimately, the decision was made to close the restaurants.
"We have invested all that we have over the last seven years to make our dreams a reality and to bring healthy and sustainable dining options to Jersey’s hospitality sector.
We did everything we could to avoid closing our business.
Our priority for now is to provide our team members and everyone who has been impacted by what has happened, with all the support and care that we can."
Teams and suppliers associated with Nude Food Beach Limited and Nude Food Dunes Limited are being helped to secure new roles and accommodation in Jersey.
The sustainable food spots were created in 2016 with Nude Town in St Helier, which then expanded to Nude Beach near St Aubin after three 'successful' years of trading.
An investor approached the owners to create Nude Dunes at La Pulente, but COVID-19 halted the project.
During the pandemic, partners associated with the build pulled out, and costs soared.
Nude Food also closed its town branch due to facing significant challenges due to the move towards working from home.
In June of this year, Nude Dunes opened, welcoming customers 18 months later than anticipated.
