Nude Dunes planning appeal dismissed

A decision to refuse planning permission for Nude Food Dunes on St Ouen's Bay has been upheld, again.

The Minister for the Environment, Deputy Steve Luce, has upheld the refusal of planning permission for changes to the former Nude Food Dunes restaurant in St Brelade, despite an appeal.

The application sought permission for a partial change of use to self-catering holiday accommodation.

It wanted the enclosure of the southern terrace for café use, a pergola added to the café terrace and various external and landscaping alterations.

The retention of public toilets was also included in the proposal.

The building at La Pulente has been empty since late 2023, when Nude Foods ceased trading in Jersey.

Its future has been in the balance since.

A previous application was rejected. That decision was taken to appeal, but the challenge was dismissed by the Environment Minister in May.

In July, Deputy Montfort Tadier said a potential private benefactor may consider buying the site to keep it in public use.
