More rain today in Jersey than the past 33 days

The rain falling in Jersey today is ending a 22-day drought.

We can expect what forecasters have called a 'useful' amount of rain this week, as low cloud passes over us across the channel.

The last measurable rain we had was on 15 July, of 15mm.

 The rain radar shortly after 10am on Wednesday.

Growers, conservationists, and gardeners have been waiting for rain, as wildlife and crops struggle in the heat.

Although the rain will not change warnings to use water considerately, the hot and dry weather has zapped supplies - with islanders watering gardens, and filling up pools and paddling pools.

Jersey Water revealed that the island uses around 24million litres of water a day during the really hot spells.

We can expect sunshine and showers for the rest of the week.
