Adrian Markiewicz has been sentenced to six years in prison by Jersey’s Royal Court.
The 39-year-old has also been put on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years after admitting to a number of sexual offences involving children.
He was charged with one count of unlawful sexual touching of a girl (older female child); one count of causing or inciting a sexual act with a girl (older female child); and six counts of making indecent images of a child.
A complaint about his behaviour was first made to the police in December 2021, listing several occasions earlier that year when Markiewicz had carried out the offences.
He was arrested the same day. Some of his devices were analysed by the forensics team who found several concerning images and videos on three of them and an SD card.
He was further arrested in June 2022 for the images.
Markiewicz appeared in court in December 2022 and was remanded into custody. He further appeared in court in February 2023, entering guilty pleas.
Today (17 April) the Superior Number of the Royal Court jailed him for six years.
Detective Constable Sian Dupre from the Public Protection Unit says the police are thankful for the courage the victim showed in reporting these incidents.
"Any form of abuse against children will not be tolerated and the States of Jersey Police are committed to target those who offend in this way."
