A man has been arrested following a crash on Victoria Avenue in the early hours of this morning.
A blue Renault Clio hit a lamp post opposite The Kiosk at Bel Royal.
The car was empty when police arrived on the scene at 3.30am.
A 26 year old man was arrested at his home in St Helier on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and report an accident, and driving whist unfit through drink or drugs and possessing a controlled substance.
Victoria Avenue was shut in both directions between Bel Royal and Rue de Galet until 7.40am.
The closure caused long tailbacks in the west of the island during this morning's rush hour.
