Rugby star Kevin Sinfield will be in Jersey this month, and wants people to join him in a fun-run on the Waterfront.

The former rugby league international is now well-known for his incredible fundraising efforts for Motor Neurone Disease.

His former Leeds Rhino team-mate Rob Burrow was diagnosed with MND in 2019.

Kevin Sinfield has since raised more than £11 million for MND causes by taking on numerous ultramarathons.

His latest one, this December, will be his sixth 7th in 7 event, devised in tribute to Rob Burrow's number 7 shirt number.

It will include visits to Ipswich, Cork, Swansea, Sheffield, Workington, Whitehaven, Dundee and North Yorkshire before arriving in Leeds on 7 December. As in previous years, the aim is to raise £777,777.

Rob Burrow died in June 2024, aged 41.

Kevin is coming to Jersey for a fundraising dinner at Jersey Rugby Club.

News of his visit comes just a day after former England rugby captain Lewis Moody revealed his own Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis at the age of 47.

Kevin has said he will support him 'in any way he can'.

He is asking people to join him on a 5K fun run  at the Waterfront at 4.30pm on Wednesday 15 October.

Dan McAlister, chairman of Jersey RFC, said: “We’re delighted to have Kevin visiting the Island – his fundraising running in recent years has been inspirational and it’s a fantastic to have this opportunity for people to run alongside him.”

The run will involve three laps of the Waterfront circuit. Entry is £20 for adults, free for under 16s (Under 12s must be accompanied by a adult)

Entry fees will go towards MND charities.
