Jersey in second going into final day of Orkney Island Games

Jersey are chasing the Faroe Islands for top spot in the Island Games medals table going into the final day in Orkney.

Team Jersey grabbed three more golds on day five of the competition, taking their total haul to 26 gold, 24 silver and 18 bronze.  They are just three golds behind Faroe Islands as the last events get underway.

Teen swimmer Filipe Nowacki's incredible games run continued with an eighth gold in the pool - an eleventh medal of all colours.

The 17 year old twice smashed the Island Games record to win the 200m breaststroke, finishing almost nine seconds quicker than the previous fastest time.

Clara Ginnis got a third individual gold in the 800m freestyle.

It sealed a brilliant showing by Jersey's swimmers, who are coming home with 33 medals in total.

The island's cyclists continued to show dominant form, following their team golds in the road race and criterium, they won the MTB cross country.

In football, Jersey's men were beaten by Bermuda in the semi finals after conceding twice at the end of extra time to lose 3-2.

They will face Isle of Man for bronze on Friday.

Action wraps up today, including the cycling time trial, half marathon, athletics finals, and gymnastics.

Events from Orkney are being livestreamed via the Orkney2025 website, where you will also find the full results service and competition schedule.
