DFDS says it's currently working on finalising its timetables for the Christmas and New Year period.
Currently, no sailings can be booked after 31 December, meaning many passengers can get to where they want to be for the holidays, but perhaps not back on their preferred travel date in early January.
Many people have taken to social media to highlight their dilemma as they wait to book their boat crossing.
One person has said they will still visit the island for Christmas, but have changed plans to now not stay for New Year, as they can't book to get back in January.
Others have said they will lose rooms they have held at hotels as they wait.
Last year, the whole winter schedule, up until 11 January, was published in mid-August.
This year, we're told we can expect them during September.
