Christmas Ice Rink Finalised

Fort Regent will host an ice rink this Christmas, after an agreement was reached with a UK operator.

'Very Nice Ice' will install the rink in Queen's Hall from Friday 6 December to Sunday 5 January.

Tickets, which can also be bought online this year, are on sale from Friday 15 November.

There were concerns that an ice rink wouldn't be put on this year, after Ice Skate Jersey announced it would not operate the festive event this year.

However talks have now been finalised with 'Very Nice Ice' who have operated rinks across several UK towns and cities including Edinburgh and Manchester.

Fort Regent Centre Manager Jo Mousdale is thankful an alternative could be arranged.

"We would like to thank the Government of Jersey and Fort Regent for this fantastic opportunity to continue the excellent work provided by our predecessors. We hope to deliver a fabulous winter event for all our customers and we look forward to meeting them."

The operator is renting the hall and operating the facility without government funding.

"We would like to thank the Government of Jersey and Fort Regent for this fantastic opportunity to continue the excellent work provided by our predecessors. We hope to deliver a fabulous winter event for all our customers and we look forward to meeting them." - Paul Minney - Managing Director of Very Nice Ice.

Tickets will be available here. The ice-rink will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years' Day.

"I’m pleased the public will have the opportunity to ice skate again this year and would like to thank the Fort Regent tenants for their support. It’s a popular activity that many families enjoy over the festive period and it would have been disappointing if local families did not have the opportunity to enjoy what has become a highlight of Christmas at Fort Regent. This is a positive outcome for the community and I would like to thank the management and all staff at the Fort for going the extra mile to make this happen."
