Seven charities supporting people with cancer will receive the funds raised by islanders taking part in this year's Swimarathon.
The Lions Club has agreed that this year’s five-day event will support islanders affected by cancer and their families.
Over the past 50 years, Jersey's biggest sporting fundraiser has raised more than £3.8 million for local charities.
The causes picked to receive a share of the donations in 2025 are ABC Breast Cancer Support Jersey, CLIC Sargent Jersey, Friends of Jersey Oncology, Jersey Brain Tumour Charity, Jersey Cancer Relief, Macmillan Cancer Support and Jersey Hospice.
Chris Palmer, Lion and organising committee chairman said: "Every year, hundreds of islanders are either diagnosed with cancer or continue their fight against the disease, so this year’s theme will resonate with so many.
"We were delighted with the calibre of the applications received and it was clear from all of them just how passionate they were at providing support to Islanders during what will often be their most challenging time.
"We know that choosing these seven charities will provide swimmers with the motivation to swim more lengths than ever and importantly raise a significant sum of money.”
The five-day event begins on 19 March at Les Quennevais Pool. Hautlieu School will be the first in the water following the official start by Lieutenant-Governor Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd CBE.
More than 370 teams, including schools, businesses, charities and States departments have already confirmed their swimming times. There are just a few spaces left.
Last year the Jersey Lions chose the theme of 'Supporting Outdoor Wellbeing and Therapy Projects' through nine local charities. Swimmers raised more than £77,000.
Lap counters will be required over the five days and anyone interested in volunteering, and for more information about taking part in the Swimarathon, should email Administrator@lionsswimarathon.org.
